Books I'm excited to read and books I am currently reading...

Updated: Feb 20, 2021

I have checked my tracking number for this certain book almost every day since I ordered it 5 days ago! I am trying to get back into reading and have had a stroke of inspiration from a book I recently read, "True Story" By Katie Reed Petty. I will do a separate post on this book soon so I don't want to go into it right now. But, WOW, it was really good, very powerful and a lot different from what I usually read. It gave me the kick in the ass I needed to keep going on the reading train and start this blog back up again.

I love books but I really hate paying nearly $30 for one especially if its hardcover it can easily be that or more. I understand everyone needs to make money and the author totally deserves it, its just I'm thrifty AF and I'd rather spend $30 on food, my dogs or plant/garden things. I do have kindle so its easy to E-book prices or sometimes even get books for free through the Prime reading library Amazon provides, but I love a good old fashion book. Who doesn't love flipping through pages, the way a book smells or how the pages feel (watch out for paper cuts), or even dog earing ( I am THAT guy) or putting a real bookmark between the pages? No one that's who. I also love the way my overstuffed bookshelf looks. I've tried to make it look "aesthetic" by organizing it by color but it futile once I start adding more books and they need more room. Now I'm just ranting...

So, I am a cheap, or as my grandpa would have said "INEXPENSIVE", thrifty bitch. I don't know how I came across this site but I just received my first book from it and it was pristine. Granted it was a library copy, a NYPL copy to be exact, of which I was once a part of, pre VID. I ordered two books from this site called Thriftbooks.com. Its freaking sweet and I love it and it will be my new favorite place to get books on the cheap. I am assuming a lot of the books they sell are extra/reject copies from libraries. Which is perfectly A-OK with me. I got 2 hardcover books for under $12 including shipping, my life is complete. The site grades the conditions of the books so if you are okay with getting books that are in okay condition like missing a book jacket, writing in the margins or tiny rips in pages you get them for almost free. They also have new books, like new or excellent condition books that are still way less expensive then you would get them at a brick and mortar store or even Amazon.

After that huge tangent I just went on, I am sure you forgot why we are here and it's because I was supposed to tell you what books I am excited to read and which I am currently reading. I want to preface by saying I am currently reading ARCs (Advanced Reader Copies) that need to be read before I start reading these two books I received from Thriftbooks.

Books I am currently reading:

Witch in the White City by Nick Wisseman

The Magic of Mortals by Cassia Meare

I am not reading them at the same time, I am not one of those people that can read two books at the same time. I like to really dive into my books and get into the story and I don't think I can do that if I am reading two at once. So, technically I am only reading Witch in the White City right now but the other one is on my currently reading list since I'll probably just get into that one as soon as I am done with the first. I can tell you so far that WITWC is really good so far. Its a historical-fiction set during the Columbian Exposition aka the World's Fair in Chicago circa 1899. I dig it.

Books I am Excited to read:

Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin

I'll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara

I'll have to enact restraint and try not to dive into either of these and focus on my CRL (Currently Reading List). But, I am extra excited to read I'll Be Gone in the Dark . I love true crime, I watched the HBO series, and true crime is probably the only non-fiction genre I will read. I never ever read non-fiction, I really don't like it and think its super boring since its a lot of biographies, self helps, or history oriented stuff. I am just really excited to read this book, its a tragic story in itself since its about (SPOILER ALERT, I think) the Golden State Serial Killer but also the tragic story of the author herself and how she was so enthralled with the case and what happened to her in the end.

Wrap Up:

If you have read this far, THANK YOU! To wrap this all up. I am excited for all these new books. I am excited to start this blog. I am excited in general and might actually share this post on my socials. Maybe people will actually read it? Maybe...

Questions:

What books are you excited to read?\

What are you currently reading?

Is there anything you want me to read and review before you get the book?

The link above is an invite code to get %15 off your entire order at Thriftbooks.com and I get points if you sing up and use it. This is not a sponsored post, I just want the points, man. I need that free book you can get once you get 500 points. Who doesn't want a free book? No one, that's who...
